Boy Scouts earn badges in day long event

Over 250 Boy Scouts earned merit badges Saturday at the annual Chickasaw Council Merit Badge College held at Delta State University.Troop Leader Candy Davis said this year's merit badge college, the 10th, had the largest number of scouts to date.

School, friends remember life of Larry Tyler

The community gathered Friday night to commemorate the short life of Larry Tyler III who died of an apparent accidental shooting.A candlelight vigil and red balloon release were held on the Cleveland Central High School football field where Tyler scored the first touchdown for the high school.

Cleveland loses star athlete in shooting

New Year’s Eve proved to be a sad night for Cleveland Central High School as student-athlete Larry Tyler III died from an apparent accidental shooting.According to Cleveland Police Chief Buster Bingham, officers were called to Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland about 10 p.m. in regards to a gunshot victim.
