Morgan-McManus

Mr. and Mrs. Duke Higdon Morgan Jr. of Shaw announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Laurie Elizabeth to Philip Patrick McManus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Lee McManus II of Hazlehurst and Ms. Patty Rebecca Porter of Brandon.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Butler Aderholdt Denton of Cleveland and Mr. and Mrs. Duke Higdon Morgan of Shaw.

A graduate of Bayou Academy, she attended Mississippi State University where she received a Bachelor of Accountancy degree. While at MSU, she was a member of Chi Omega social sorority as well as a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Alpha Psi, and Beta Gamma Psi honorary fraternities. She also received a Master of Business Administration degree from MSU, while serving as the MBA Association Financial Chair.

She is a surety underwriter with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America in Jackson.

The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Allen Porter of Hermanville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Troy Lee McManus of Hazlehurst.

He graduated from Copiah Academy and earned a Bachelor of Building Construction Science degree from Mississippi State University. He was a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity and Phi Kappa Phi honorary fraternity. He is currently completing his Master of Engineering degree with a concentration of Construction Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He is a project manager at Community Construction Inc. in Hazlehurst.

Vows will be exchanged at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland.

Pentecost-Selman

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wills Pentecost Sr. of Cleveland announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Ann Turner Pentecost of Jackson to John Ryan Selman of Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Barry Selman of Madison.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Leander Turner III of Greenville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Edward Pentecost Jr. of Doddsville.

She is a graduate of 2007 Bayou Academy and attended Mississippi State University. She is a 2011 cum laude graduate of Mississippi University for Women, where she received a bachelor of science in communication services and disorders. She also is a 2013 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, where she received a master of science in speech-language pathology. 

She was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity at Mississippi State University, a Delta Debutante in Greenville, and a provisional member of the Junior League of Jackson. She is a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson and is employed as a speech pathologist at Wisteria Gardens in Pearl.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mickel Hayward Sr. of Oxford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Winsyl Selman of Madison. He is a 2006 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Mississippi in 2010.

He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and attends Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.

He is employed as product manager with Stuart C. Irby Company in Jackson.

The couple will exchange wedding vows in a 7 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Cleveland.
