Doc Merlin Bolm, 70

Doc Merlin Bolm, 70, a former Law Enforcement Officer and Private Investigator and Wood Security Officer, died September 8, 201. at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson.

Visitation was Monday, September 11, 2017, from noon-2 p.m. at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale.

Doc was a member of the Coahoma County Search and Rescue. He had the first privately owned drug dog in the United States. He had a great love for Clarksdale and Coahoma County, promoting the blues and Clarksdale wherever he went. For 3 years, he was involved with Crossroads Bikes and Blues, having a passion for motorcycles. His hobby that he did well was penmaking and he was a hot air balloonist. Many remember Doc working for Ms. T’s Trees for 17 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

Survivors include wife of 16 years El Laurie Prewitt Bolm of Clarksdale; stepdaughter Le Labon Reginelli Fife (Hunter) of Rayville, LA; brothers George Bubba Bolm (Becki) of Vicksburg and Fred Bolm (Kathy) of Edwards; sister-in-law Johnette Bolm of Rena Lara; and grandchildren Ella Paisle Fife and Rorick Hunter Fife.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence M. Bolm and Mary George Bolm and brother Jimmy Bolm.
