Kenny Taylor, 70, of Jackson, formerly of Cleveland, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at his home.

Annual Art in the Alley changes

Keep Cleveland Boring is hosting Crafts and Drafts at 5p.m. on Thursday, on the patio of Hey Joe's.
According to Michael Stanley, art director at Delta State University, this event will replace the annual Art in the Alley.
"Now that the alley is gone we are trying to find a home for it," said Stanley.
The event include art work from local artist, Lawson King and Amanda Povall, and Delta State Students Amanda Tabb, Catherine Beck, Hailey Hannis, Ashton Goodin, Camilla Segura-Sevillano, Taylor Kendrick and Krystal Schmalz.
He said, “This would be a great time, for people to swing by and buy great gifts that have been handcrafted by local artist.”
Stanley said the artists are selling clothing, artwork, jewelry, digital art, thank you cards, and even some furniture.
Stanley said items prices would range from $2 to $200.

Aubrey Della "Billie" Yarbrough Morris Aven, 79, of Ruleville

Aubrey Della "Billie" Yarbrough Morris Aven, 79, of Ruleville passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, in Ruleville.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Home. 
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017, at 2 p.m. at West Drew Baptist Church in Drew. Burial will follow in the Drew Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Morris and Bro. Joe Young will officiate the services.
Billie was born in Sumner to Ervin Wesley Yarbrough and Lida Burk Yarbrough on December 19, 1937. She grew up in the Brazil community. Billie married Bobby Lee Morris at the age of 14 on May 10, 1952. Billie was a bundler for Angelina Manufacturing in Sumner as well as Ruleville manufacturing for a number of years. Billie, above all else, was a devout Christian and leader and raised her family in such a manner. She was a former member of Parks Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer. Her most recent church membership was with West Drew Baptist Church. Billie loved to cook and grow flowers in her garden. She loved gospel singing and spending time with her grandchildren. Billie was the most wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents Ervin Wesley Yarbrough and Lida Burk Yarbrough; her first husband, Bobby Lee Morris, as well as her second husband, Henry Earl Aven. She was also preceded in death by her 13 siblings.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Grace (Rick) Milan of Cleveland; daughter, Wanda (Horace) Boswell of Meridian; 5 grandchildren, Kim Milan Roberts, Marty Milan, Joe Bradley Milan, Donnie Lynn Fleming and Brian Lee Fleming; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Criddle of Cannon, TX ; 4 step-children with Earl Aven: Butch Aven, Leigh Ann Aven, Darlene Aven and David Aven.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Morris, Ricky Morris, Bill Morris, Joe Morris, II, David Morris and Joel Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Morris, Jimmy Morris, Chris Morris and Tracy Morris.

Shaw teacher killed in car accident

Ninth-grade Shaw High School teacher Chandra Jennings and husband Richard Smith were killed in a Jackson car accident early Sunday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m. Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle accident that claimed the lives of Jennings and Smith, both from Indianola.
According to a report from MHP, Smith, 53, lost control of his 2003 Ford Expedition while northbound on US Highway 49 before overturning into a field east of the northbound lane.
Smith and Jennings were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith and Jennings' three children were in the back seat at the time of the accident.
All three were taken to Kings Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City where they were treated from minor injuries.
The accident is still under investigation and officials with North Bolivar Consolidated School District were unable to provide additional information on her classes or on how her students were coping.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Greater New Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland with Pastor Randolph Seals Jr. officiating. Burial will immediately follow services at Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.
Visitation will be held at Brinson Funeral Home Friday, December 8, 2017, from 2-5 p.m.
